While we have more thunderstorms to watch (they really go around us don’t they), the temperature is also going to drop way off. While I like the idea of days in the 70s, I’m not sure I’m ready for nights in the 40’s! (Weather from Accuweather, commentary is my own).

🤔 Planning Ahead

Election Year

As you likely know, given the growing number of signs populating every corner or sizeable length of road, this is an election year! Make sure you’re registration is up to date here. On September 4, absentee ballots were mailed to those who requested them; remember to get those in ASAP to address any issues that may arise. Early, in-person voting runs Oct 15 to Oct 31 (here are early voting locations). Then, the general election takes place on November 4. You can check your official voting location here.

Ballot Measures

Along with the usual election of office holders, there will be three ballot measures this year. Be sure to dig into them and get informed! Here is a non-partisan breakdown of each.

Don’t worry, October is still a ways away (though the Spirit store is now open, just FYI), but it’s never too early to start planning good times. The Celebrate festival does just that, celebrates Fuquay-Varina, it’s the town, our history, our growth, and the people! If you’re interested, there are still sponsor and vendor spots available.

Getting to Know Fuquay-Varina

As our home, we live, work, play, eat, and drive around Fuquay-Varina but how well do we know it? This is to introduce you to somewhere you’ve never been to or, perhaps, never even heard of and encourage you to get out to it!

This Week: Weeknights on the Town with the Family.

Sometimes you just don’t want to cook and you want to enjoy the amazing food our town has to offer but the kids are tired (and you are too). Where do you go that welcomes a family with kids?

Luckily, Fuquay-Varina has no shortage of such places and, frankly, even some of our fanciest joints are still family friendly. Here’s a un-exhaustive list of local joints with great food, great vibes, and an atmosphere welcome to those less accustomed to sitting still.

Feeling like you need the great food but don’t want to sit down? There’s always the option of checking out two of Fuquay-Varina’s own breweries. Order take out and set yourselves up at either Mason Jar or Oakyln Springs. Great outside seating, tasty beer, and loads of room for the little ones to run around.

🗓️ the Week Ahead

Check out below and let us know what else is happening!

A Taste of Spain

Make your way through a meal inspired by the hills and dishes of Spain. Chef Nikki Stranger developed the recipes and menu to survey and sample the amazing cuisine of Spain and Barb Lavergne is pairing each course with a Spanish wine to bring out the best in each item! If you love wine, food, Spain, or are just curious, book a ticket before their gone.

Dolly Day

Celebrate Dolly Parton, her life, her music, her actions, and her legacy with fellow Dolly fans! Dress the part, wear a coat of many colors, show off your knowledge, and enjoy her music with fellow butterflies, after your nine to five, and show how we will always love her!

Witchstock 2

Looking to get at least one more night of camping in before temperatures truly plummet? Enjoy the autumn equinox with live music, stand up comedy, yoga, drum circles, lake activities, firepits, and loads of new friends! Find an intersection of music, herbalism, and magic on Panther Lake!

1776: the Musical

The year is 1776 and the British colonies in America know they want independence but are not sure how. This award-winning musical, put forth by the Southern Wake Players, tells the story of how the Continental Congress worked through their differences to complete the Declaration of Independence!

Oaklyn-Toberfest

Enjoy the season and celebrate Oktoberfest at Oaklyn Springs! Festive beers, limited (exclusive) merchandise, live music, food trucks, festival contests, and more!
