Hello Fuquay-Varina!
Trick and treats abound this week! Not only is it finally Halloween proper (your guide to trick-or-treating included below) with a ton of costume and holiday parties but we’ve got actual tricks this week as Jeki Yoo visits the Arts Center and proves why he’s internationally renowned! If you want something a bit less spooky, you can meet up with fellow creatives, learn to paint, or even visit and get to know our local firefighters. There really is something for everyone!
Two MAJOR notes for this week! First, daylight savings is happening next Sunday on November 1 so all your smart clocks will fall back and then you’ll have to find all the non-smart clocks in your house to update them too!
Second, early voting! You can vote early (in person) through next Saturday, October 31. So if you want to avoid the lines and headache of Election day proper, get out to a voting site this week! But no matter where or when or how you do it, please vote!
Is there anything that’s happening that we missed? Reply and let us know or email us [email protected] to let us know!

Ballot Measures
Along with the usual election of office holders, there will be three ballot measures this year. Be sure to dig into them and get informed! Here is a non-partisan breakdown of each.

Getting to Know Fuquay-Varina
As our home, we live, work, play, eat, and drive around Fuquay-Varina but how well do we know it? This is to introduce you to somewhere you’ve never been to or, perhaps, never even heard of and encourage you to get out to it!
🎃🦇This Week: Halloween!🦇🎃
Halloween is a blast and, of course, its a big deal in Fuquay-Varina too!
The town does not set official hours but typically expect trick-or-treaters between about 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm although with good weather the evening can often go much later! Be sure to turn off your porch light when you want to be done (and, of course, respect the turned off porch light!).
The Fuquay-Varina Fire Department shared safety tips for ways to have a fun and safe time trick-or-treating!
From personal experience (of my own and herding cats, I mean, children), choose a costume that can be seen and seen out of! Bring a flashlight or glow sticks to again allow the child to see and be seen. You want to be able to quickly pick your kids out of the crowd because neighborhoods do get crowded here!
Fuquay-Varina’s neighborhoods vary a lot in size and some are much safer (and enthusiastic!). Consider side walks, street lighting, through way traffic, and cul de sacs. Here’s an un-official list, in alphabetical order of popular neighborhoods for great trick-or-treating!
Gray’s Creek: with very little through traffic and a ton of Halloween spirit, Gray’s Creek is known for loads of candy distribution and packed streets.
Hidden Valley: built as a big loop split up by smaller loops this is a great map to ensure maximum trick or treating and candy collection.
Phillips Pointe: Right off Judd and another newer neighborhood of townhouses you may not find a better place to maximize trick-or-treating time for candy.
South Lakes : with greenways and a large sidewalk network, South Lakes has tons of visitors and some truly massive displays.
Southern Oaks: being close to downtown, this neighborhood can be visited and enjoyed while still visiting others!

Classic sunset in the fall over the pond at Hilltop Needmore Park.
FV Trivia Answer: Piney Grove Baptist Church’s cemetery dates back to 1820 coinciding with the church’s establishment, causing many to believe its the oldest established cemetery in the town.
Till next week!
