Hello Fuquay-Varina!
We have a “quieter" week after last week’s busy-ness but there is plenty to do! Build a plantini, learn about bubbles, and wander through Fuquay! This week is also the Got to Be NC Festival at the state fair grounds, which is not in Fuquay-Varina but well worth checking out!
Special call out to check out the 2027 budget and provide feedback through the 19th as the Town Board seeks input and questions.

Trivia: When was the railroad that so famously cuts through Fuquay and Varina and sparked so much growth in the town built?

🚶➡️ Around Town
Water Restrictions Remain in Place
Surprisingly enough, at least to this non-meteorologist, we are still in a severe-to-extreme drought. So, despite the rain, as of Sunday, May 11, the town’s water restrictions remain in place and will remain until officially lifted.
On the other hand, the open burn ban has been lifted.
Check out the details in the link.
2027 Budget Review Period Until May 19
On May 4, the 2027 budget for Fuquay-Varina was presented at the Board of Commissioners meeting.
There is a public comment period through Let’s Talk FV from May 5 through May 19 (next week!)
It may not be thrilling but it will directly affect us all! Find the .pdf and provide your feedback through the link below.

🚶♂️🚶♀️ A Day in Fuquay-Varina🚶♀️➡️🚶♂️➡️
It's a quieter week after the excitement of last week. So why not take a leisurely stroll through one of our fine downtowns? We recently provided a day through Varina so today we'll focus on Fuquay. Again, our focus will be on walking between stops rather than driving (although some may be unavoidable or preferred depending on temperature!)
This Week: A Walking Day in downtown Fuquay
Breakfast: There are any number of wonderful coffee shops to start the day! For our walking day, we’ll start the day at Stick Boy Bread with some coffee and pastries (I’m partial to the biscuits).
Morning: Wander the shops of downtown Fuquay! Today, we’ll switch it up and check out Lost Legacy Collectibles and Yellow Bird Comics. Just be careful of sticky hands!
Lunch: Get lunch at Duke’s Kitchen & Taphouse. A relative new comer to the F-V restaurant scene, its owners are long time residents who know the town well. Enjoy solid Americana, Southern fare.
Afternoon: Spend the afternoon walking off lunch in Ashworth Park exploring Fuquay-Varina’s museums and then the Fuquay-Varina Arts Center checking out local artists.
Dinner: Sit outside at The Mason Jar Tavern and help them celebrate 10 years of serving amazing food to downtown Fuquay.
Post Dinner / Evening: Take a seat at the Library Steakhouse and check out more locally owned, family centered goodness. They’re known for their steak (and it’s amazing) but, seriously, check out the bar and the rest of the menu too!
This is just one possible day, walking through Fuquay. We’ve obviously skipped over many amazing options. Where would you go?
FV Trivia Answer: The railroad was chartered in 1898 and completed between 1900 and 1902.
Till next week!
