Hello Fuquay-Varina!
While we may all be a little extra tired from losing an hour of sleep, activities throughout town have officially kicked off with the Chili Cook-Off and Car Show this past Saturday in Varina. The town was busy! If you didn’t make it out, no worries, there’s tons more coming soon!
FVDash is working on a second weekly edition to come out on Wednesdays with a comprehensive calendar of live music, trivia, food trucks, and more! Let us know what you’d like to see!
We would love to feature local photographers in each edition so send us your pictures!

🚶‍➡️ Around Town

State of the Town - Monday March 9

New mayor, long time Councilman, and life long Fuquay-Varina resident, William H Harris, will discuss 2025 and look ahead to 2026.

You can attend it live or watch the livestream on Facebook or Youtube.

Water Disinfection Process

If you’ve been around for awhile, you’ll know that there’s a period of time in the spring when the water tastes different. That’s a good thing as its a stated mandated disinfection process designed to clear out sediments and build up in our water.

The process involves suspending use of ammonia from Feb 26 through April 15 and flushing the system. You may notice the water tastes different or even looks different but it remains safe to drink, per those who know more than I!

🌳 Parks + Outdoors

Featured Park: Willow Lakes Park
  • Willow Lakes Park is really all about youth sports.

  • Boasting more fields than I can remember, a Saturday in this park is full of kids running, parents in foldable chairs, water bottles scattered everywhere, and the air full of shouts, whistles, and laughter.

  • While it does not actually have a Willow Lake(s), this field is right next door to South Lakes Elementary School and has some ponds surrounding it with walking trails.

  • Pro tip: directions will take you to the area of South Lakes Elementary, turn as if you’re going into the school parking lot, then, keep to the left.

🔍 Who is Fuquay-Varina?

Five questions with someone who helps make Fuquay-Varina what it is today.

This Week: Tyler Conrad

Tell us a bit about yourself, including, how long have you been in Fuquay-Varina, and what first brought you here?

I grew up in the Raleigh area, but just recently moved to Fuquay-Varina with my wife 3 years ago. We were attracted to the blend of new development and small town charm within close proximity to many of our favorite spots in the Raleigh area.

What’s one local place, event, or activity you think deserves more love?

Right Meow Cat Cafe is a great family friendly activity! They take good care of the cats and have so many fun drinks to try.

If you had a free afternoon in Fuquay-Varina, how would you spend it?

We like to spend the afternoon walking around the South Park trails and grabbing a few drinks from Mason Jar Brewery before heading to our favorite local Mexican restaurant Casa Amigos.

What’s something about Fuquay-Varina you didn’t fully appreciate at first - but do now?

When we first moved to Fuquay-Varina, we didn’t fully appreciate the fact that we have TWO downtowns. We feel lucky to have so many local places to check out close by.

What would you tell someone who just moved here last month?

Book the Brewquay Prowler with some friends this summer!

Did You Know? Former (and long-time) Fuquay-Varina mayor John Byrne’s dad, Tommy, played for the New York Yankees.

Till next week!
