Summer Reading
  • The Fuquay-Varina Library’s summer reading is off and running!

Water Restrictions Remain in Place
  • Despite finally getting some rain a week ago and the scattered thunder storms of summer, we are STILL in drought conditions.

  • The town has not lifted the Stage 1 water restrictions put in place in April.

  • Be advised that these remain in place until officially lifted. The goal remains for all of us to cut water usage by 10%.

🤔 Planning Ahead

Fall Youth Sports Registration

Believe it or not, registration for fall youth sports is already here! Registration is open for residents and opens to non-residents next week on Monday, June 15 at 8:00 am.

Open Submission - Fuquay Film Festival

The film festival itself is not until Novemeber but submissions are wide open! Early bird deadline for film submission is until July 15. Regular deadline is August 15, then late deadline is Sept 15. All appropriate genres are accepted and all film makers are welcome to submit. There is even a specific category for high school and college students so don’t hold back!

RecTrac - New Registration System

The Arts Center and Parks and Recreation departments are moving to a new registration system called RecTrac. Accounts on the old system are usable over the summer but you will need to make a new account for fall registration by July 1. Good news is that you only need one account across departments.

🍔Getting to Know Fuquay-Varina🍔

As our home (or home away from home), we life, work, play, eat, and drive around Fuquay-Varina but how well do we know it? This feature is to introduce you to somewhere you’ve never been to or, perhaps, never even heard of and encourage you to get out to it!

This Week: Burgers

Sometimes, you find yourself looking past all of the delectable salads, savory steaks, salacious seafood, or other exquisite entrees, and all you really want is a hamburger. It’s hard to beat a solid, well balanced, well made burger (grace given where relevant to those who don’t eat red meat, of course). This week we asked for everyone’s favorite burger and the following list came together.

Per the people, in alphabetical order, these are where you can get the best burgers in town!

Top Spot goes to My Way Tavern! With by far the most shout outs, My Way’s Fuquay-Varina outpost is where your neighbors think you should pick up a burger. I can’t disagree, my personal favorite is the Sriracha Burger (with a strong nod to the Bacon Jam.

Follow us on our socials to join in future polls!

FV Trivia Answer: Campbell’s Diner was opened by Dora Campbell a few years after she closed Fuquay-Restaurant, the restaurant opened by her father decades before.

Till next week!
