Hello Fuquay-Varina!
Happy Birthday to the United States! However, you count the years, 250 is a pretty cool number! If you can’t get enough fireworks, there are events all over the area from Wednesday through Sunday. A lot of local spots are on vacation or deferring to skyborne explosives so there is not a lot of specific events happening.

FVDash will be taking a hiatus for the month of July as we visit with family, head on vacation, and get lost in those summer days! But do not worry, fair reader, we will be back in your inboxes August 2. In the meantime, feel free to reach out to us and we will endeavor to respond as soon as we are able.
Trivia: How did Fuquay-Varina get the honor of being the first firework celebration in the area?

🚶➡️ Around Town
Water Restrictions Remain in Place
It’s becoming harder to write something entertaining about the same topic week after week but this is important! Stage 1 water restrictions remain in place. These restrictions aim to reduce water usage by 10% across the town so interpret them accordingly. In light of Fuquay-Varina’s broader water issues, being careful in our usage of water in general may be valuable.
🤔 Planning Ahead
Adult Fall Sports Leagues Sign Ups are Open
Sign up for fall adult sports leagues are now open for teams or “free agents.” Don’t forget you’ll need a Rec Trac account (see below.)

RecTrac - New Registration System
The Arts Center and Parks and Recreation departments are moving to a new registration system called RecTrac. Accounts on the old system are usable over the summer but you will need to make a new account for fall registration by July 1. Good news is that you only need one account across departments.
Open Submission - Fuquay Film Festival
The film festival itself is not until November but submissions are wide open! Early bird deadline for film submission is until July 15. Regular deadline is August 15, then late deadline is Sept 15. All appropriate genres are accepted and all film makers are welcome to submit. There is even a specific category for high school and college students so don’t hold back!

FV Trivia Answer: Simple logistics. When firework displays restarted after Covid, there was a major shortage of fireworks. To ensure a professional fire work display, the town moved our celebration to the start of the line!
Till next week!
