Hello Fuquay-Varina!
Here we go again, but at least this time its snow. I’m not about to predict when this will let up as clearly my reliance on weather apps failed me last week! Bundle up, stay inside (or play outside), and stay warm!
Here, again, is the link to see alerts from the town.
We would love to feature local photographers in each edition so send us your pictures! If you’d like to partner with us or advertise on here, please reach out to [email protected]

🌳 Parks + Outdoors

Featured Park: Fleming Loop Recreational Park
  • Fleming Loop Recreational Park is located at 501 Fleming Loop Road..

  • Massive fields make this park familiar to anyone involved in town sports, especially soccer, flag football, and lacrosse.

  • It also has an awesome playground with a climbing sphere that I really wish existed when I was younger!

  • Excellent walking paths, great facilities (including bathrooms!), and a big shelter make it a great hangout for an afternoon.

🔍 Who is Fuquay-Varina?

Five questions with someone who helps make Fuquay-Varina what it is today.

This Week: Megan DeJohn

Wife • Mom of 2 boys • Local educator • Calm mornings & coffee • Simple living.

Tell us a bit about yourself, including, how long have you been in Fuquay-Varina, and what first brought you here?

My husband and I relocated to North Carolina from PA in 2013 when he was stationed at Fort Bragg. After he got out of the military, we chose to put down roots and build our home in Fuquay-Varina. We were drawn to the small-town feel and it quickly became home.

What’s one local place, event, or activity you think deserves more love?

Fuquay-Varina’s downtown, especially on a quiet morning, truly deserves more love.

Grabbing coffee from Cultivate or The Mill, or a sweet treat from Stickboy, then strolling through the shops and soaking in the small-town pace feels so special.

The town genuinely caters to all its residents, from young children to adults, making it a welcoming place to call home.

If you had a free afternoon in Fuquay-Varina, how would you spend it?

I’d spend a free afternoon in Fuquay-Varina slowly, starting with coffee from The Mill or Cultivate, a sweet treat from Stickboy, then strolling through the shops and enjoying the small-town atmosphere.

I’d take my two boys to Falcon Park to play and finish the day with dinner at our favorite Mexican spot, El Cantarito Bar & Grill, soaking in a relaxed, cozy evening together.

What’s something about Fuquay-Varina you didn’t fully appreciate at first - but do now?

When we first moved here, Fuquay-Varina wasn’t what it is today. Over the years, I’ve come to see it as a true gem; welcoming, family-friendly, and full of small-town charm that makes it such a special place to call home.

What would you tell someone who just moved here last month?

I’d tell them to slow down and savor the little moments. Start with coffee from The Mill or Cultivate, a sweet treat from Stickboy, then wander through downtown and soak in the small-town charm. Spend some time at Falcon Park with your kids, explore the local shops, and finish the day with dinner at El Cantarito Bar & Grill. Fuquay-Varina is perfect for date nights, family outings, or a night out with the girls, and its welcoming community makes it feel like home.
