We are officially (I’m calling it) in the dog days of summer. The heat. The humidity. Yet, there is enjoyment in the heat and things to do out of it! We’ve got things to do, places to go, and some help with that back to school shopping.

More heat and humidity which always means (especially in NC), that there’s a chance of a thunderstorm. Lately, many seem to be bypassing us but I wouldn’t trust that to keep up forever. (Weather from Accuweather, commentary is my own).

🌧️💧Water Restrictions Lifted!
We’ve had a month of thunderstorms and some pretty cool lightning and rain! Due to that rainfall, the Tier 1 Water Restrictions lifted last week on Monday, August 3!
I would not go nuts with using water as rain is not certain but it’s a huge relief to see these lifted!
Grower’s Market
A reminder that we have the Grower’s Market with us for one more month before it closes down for the fall on September 5. Located in the Chamber of Commerce parking lot every Saturday, the Grower’s Market is a great place for fresh and local product. They are also SNAP/EBT/SUN certified!

🤔 Planning Ahead
RecTrac - New Registration System
The Arts Center and Parks and Recreation departments are moving to a new registration system called RecTrac. Accounts on the old system (Activenet) are still usable but they will expire on September 1!
Open Submission - Fuquay Film Festival
The deadline for submissions to the Fuquay Film Festival is fast approaching on August 15th! The late and final deadline is Sept 15. All appropriate genres are accepted and all film makers are welcome to submit. There is even a specific category for high school and college students so don’t hold back!
Celebrate Fuquay-Varina Festival on October 3
Don’t worry, October is still a ways away (though the Spirit store is now open, just FYI), but it’s never too early to start planning good times. The Celebrate festival does just that, celebrates Fuquay-Varina, it’s the town, our history, our growth, and the people! If you’re interested, there are still sponsor and vendor spots available.

As our home, we live, work, play, eat, and drive around Fuquay-Varina but how well do we know it? This is to introduce you to somewhere you’ve never been to or, perhaps, never even heard of and encourage you to get out to it!
This Week: Kids Clothing
Cover your kids’ ears but the start of school is right around the corner! Time to be looking for schools supplies and clothes for the year. We all know the big names and places you can go but you don’t have to go far to find some great options, new and loved.

You’ll find everything you need at Little Angels while also supporting Alzheimer’s research as 65% of proceeds research grants.

Trendy and on-style clothing as well as surprising and unique specialty items (Used to be Shoppes on Main Street but rebranded and relocated).
A bit less on the clothing and a bit more on the local artist and vendors but you’ll find all sorts of treasures and surprises so worth the mention!

Riffs & Rescues at Mason Jar
The party will be at Mason Jar all afternoon on Saturday! Pawsitively Alternative Markets will be hosting on site with adoptable animals, local artists and vendors, karaoke +DJ Danicus spinning metalcore, and of course, excellent beer! All to support Lending Paws A Hand, Inc.

Kitty Yoga
Ever though about trying yoga but there weren’t enough adorable animals? Head to ClubWorx on Sunday to take part in a full yoga session with kittens wandering the room! The kittens are in need of a home and there will be loads of information and guides to adoption from Winter’s Grace Animal Rescue and the Pooch Pad Foundation.
