🚶‍➡️ Around Town

Holly Springs Springfest

This Saturday, if the mood suits you, travel forth to yonder Holly Springs (ok, so its 10 minutes away) for their annual Spring Fest! This family-friendly event takes over downtown Holly Springs with vendors, food trucks, a car show (for big ones and little ones), yard games, kid zones, and more!

Burn Ban

We are officially in drought conditions so the possibility of an uncontrolled fire is high. Wake County is keeping its burn ban in effect and Fuquay-Varina is following the same guidelines. Have fun but be safe!

Raffle for a Good Cause!

From April 1 through April 30, Lost Legacy Collectibles is collecting non-perishable food items. Every $5 of food items or buying a $10 ticket will give you a ticket in a drawing May 1 for a Pokemon Z-A Switch 2!

🔍 Around Town: One Topic, Many Answers

With the weather warming up quickly, it’s time to scope (scoop?) out where to get the right ice cream on the right day because there are certainly options! They’re probably all exactly right for any occasion but the variety helps.

🍨🍨 Ice Cream! Alphabetically…

Now with a location in the aptly named Quaint Plaza, Fat Cat’s pink and purple is a familiar site around Fuquay-Varina at events and school happenings. And for the right reasons! This family founded, locally owned ice cream shop proudly makes homemade dairy and dairy free ice cream to be enjoyed by all.

Brand new to Fuquay-Varina but no stranger to ice cream or the area, FRESH. just opened up in downtown Fuquay! With a focus on freshness and happy cows, its easy to get a cone and keep wandering throughout downtown.

JT’s is a family affair with a distinctively classy twist. Recognized by the North American Ice Cream Association (I am very excited to learn this exists) and holding three Blue Ribbon Awards as evaluated by Cornell University, JT’s flavors are culinary delights and check out the seasonal flavors!

What a delicious combination! Pints offers pints of locally produced ice cream and beer and even offers some of its own combinations and concoctions. Loads of specialty flavors and something interesting for everyone, its well worth checking out while meandering downtown Varina! (Bonus points for checking out Fuq’n Vinyl while inside)

One of our kids’ favorite places for an afternoon The Scoop has amazing, scratch made ice cream plus a very large playground plus a large indoor play space (leave the ice cream outside) plus farm animals! You can also find fresh product (like strawberries) on occasion when the season is right.

While it may be easy to drive past or overlook, you really should look twice in the parking lot near Staples (between Walmart and Home Depot), this lovely yellow building holds some of the best soft serve you’re going to find anywhere! Tiny House Treats is a family, mother-daughter owned delight of custard and unique flavors (I’m a sucker for carrot cake, what can I say!)

Neighborly Honorable Mentions (because, hey, more delicious ice cream?!)

Fantastic ice cream and treats, Mama Bird’s is a Holly Spring institution and well worth checking out!

With a massive selection of over 100 flavors, Sunni Sky’s is an absolutely fantastic place to try flavor after unusual flavor - and they’re all great!

Did You Know? The caboose in Ashworth Park is not local but was carefully and lovingly transported from Alabama to Fuquay-Varina in 2015.

Till next week!
